1. Scenes begin in the middle, not the beginning.
2. A character should be "doing" something 100 percent of the time.
3. A character enters a scene for a reason, and he exits for a reason.
4. Thinking tends to lead to conclusions; emotion tends to lead to action.
5. A gesture need not be an illustration of the spoken word.

I was surfing the internet for some useful tips and I saw these.

What do you think about them?

"A character should be doing SOMETHING 100% of the time."

Yeah. This is a nice tip. A perfect one for me since I am often told that I tend to be stiff when I act.

Truly, acting for a role means taking in the whole personality of the character and that includes even the slightest gestures and mannerisms that would help in building up that character.

hmmm, I must remember this.

I found other tips also given by Ed hooks. They are really good.

***Audiences empathize with emotion. The key to good animation
is in empathy.

***Comedy is drama heightened, oxygenated.

***An action pursues a longer term objective. (Smile at the girl
because you want to date her.)

***Short term memory causes eyes to glance upward.

***Long term memory causes eyes to glance downward, into the soul.

***Humans act to survive. Find the survival mechanism in your character.

***Play an action until something happens to make you play a
different one.

Good stuff. These things seem simple but they are not that easy to take into action.

I already know some of them myself yet, I often find myself unable to bring them out.

I've honestly never heard of him before. But thank you for the tips though. Maybe I should research his work a little more. I feel really dumb now knowing that I've never heard of him before, but you all have. :(

Those are probably the greatest acting tips I've ever read. Well, those and the ones that my grandma gave me. I'll have to get her permission and post some on here for everyone to read. She has some really good ones.

Great I hope she lets you. Any tips from a previous actor/actress would be absolutely helpful and knowledgeable.

Great tips! I'd like to hear the tips from your grandma, that would be so awesome to hear from someone in a generation or two behind us. What a great idea. Keep up the good work. :)
