Recently I was looking for a creative idea for one of my finals at school. Well it turns out I was the only one in the class who got an A (woo!) and my professor suggested I blog about the experience. The class was a film studies class (awesome elective for all of you UT students out there), and the assignment was to write a paper about the movie making process. You could pick any area of interest to you (pre or post production, casting, sound editing, etc) and write about that area as it related to one particular movie. While most everyone else in my class researched a certain film and their particular area of interest I was able to actually help create a movie! After some internet surfing I came across this website www.imadeamovie.com. To make a long story short, after signing up for the website I was able to become a producer on a REAL LIFE movie. I read through a few synopses of the scripts they were offering and picked the one that looked most interesting to me. From there I was able to view different videos of actors and actually vote for which ones I thought would be the best fit for the role. For anyone out there who is hoping to break into acting this website is also great for you. Literally anyone can post their own audition tape to be considered for a film! But back to the movie- after the movie began shooting I was able to view the raw footage of scenes that had been shot. I communicated with the director and other people who were producing on the film. Some days I was on the website all day commenting and giving input while others I just checked in a couple times- the experience is literally as involved as YOU want it to be!

I can't even tell you how much fun I had on www.imadeamovie.com. From helping to pick the cast, to actually watching the movie being made and being able to give MY input was just so awesome. To anyone out there who likes movies, or is literally just bored I promise this website is a great time. I would also recommend it to anyone studying film in school because it definitely offers a hands on experience you can't get in the classroom. When the movie wraps you also get a copy of the DVD with your name in the credits! Hope this helps anyone looking for a. either help with a final of their own or b. just a new and fun experience!!
